The mission of the United Methodist men is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually and seek daily to do his will. Rev. David Adams, general secretary of the General Commission on UM Men said in a recent letter: Jesus says to the woman at the well, "those who drink from the water that I will give them will never be thirsty [John 4:13]." Her response was very much like ours when she said, "Where do you get that living water [John 4:11]?"

The very essence of UM Men since our beginning is to offer "living water" to all men, assisting them to become disciples of Jesus Christ. We are about helping men to grow in Christ that others may know Christ too. It is perhaps fitting that the men of Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church begin a drive to reorganize and become more active during the 100 year anniversary of United Methodist Men.

A number of ideas have been discussed - to hold a monthly evening meeting with a meal and speaker so that more men have opportunity to attend; organize regular work parties to help Habitat for Humanity; make apple cider to be distributed regularly from the Lord's Pantry during Summer and Fall; organize UMM trap shoots and UMM Fishing Friendlies as fund raisers in support of mission; etc.

If you are a man attending Community United Methodist Church, we would like to hear from you. What day would be good to meet? What time? Monthly or quarterly? Any ideas? Please speak to Wally Aunan 548-5983 or Jay Hansen 548-2060 or Roger 548-5619.
