This image of a leaf, apple, pear and grape can be found on a kneeler at the communion rail in the sanctuary. The autumn colored leaf reminds us to give thanks for the local harvest of the apple, pear, and grape crops of our valley during fall each year.
The fullness of the earth is celebrated as winter approaches not only in the fall colors but in the abundance and variety of food crops maturing in our valley - apples, pears and grapes, vegetables of all sorts, and countless varieties of flowers.
To give thanks to God for this local abundance, members are asked to bring produce from their home gardens on Autumn Leaf Harvest Sunday. This produce transforms the sanctuary into an overflowing market place as God's provision-through-creation for another year is celebrated - gift from God, gift of the earth. As thanks is offered to God for these gifts from creation, congregants are reminded that God is our provider and that we are called to be stewards of the one creation entrusted to us to provide for our every need.
Join us for this festival and then stay for our annual Harvest Festival meal prepared only from local produce that follows on the lawn. Our cooks haven't disappointed yet!
