Easter/Spring Classes, implementing K = X + 3P

1. Opening Ourselves to Grace: a four week video course using the Jerusalem Cross as a symbol to guide our understanding. Having planted the Jerusalem Cross in our garden, inlaid it into our newly refurbished wooden floors, we can new root it in our hearts.

The class begins Sunday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. in Remembrance Hall. Join us for fair trade coffee, available from the Commonground Cafe, at 8:45 a.m.

This class for adults will encourage participants to grow in their love of God and neighbor through works of piety and works of mercy and the application of grace in our individual and corporate discipleship journeys.

Make this your Easter commitment to grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ (X) - just a commitment to 4 Sundays.

2. Manna and Mercy: A Brief History of God's Unfolding Promise to Mend the Universe by Daniel Erlander

Once we have finished the course on grace, we will read the above delightful book. It is a short and easy-to-read book, with creative line drawings, about God—"more specifically the God of the Bible who is present and active in human history and in all creation."

Daniel Erlander said that he wrote the book for a number of reasons. 1. He loves to tell the story. 2. He is concerned about Biblical illiteracy. and 3. because he believes the METANOIA (a turning, a change of mind) is needed if both human society and the ecosystem are to survive. He hopes that reading and sharing with one another about this book will foster a "whole new way of thinking."

Come join us for what promises to be a fun study that will help us wrap our minds around K = X + 3P. The black and white line drawings in your book even encourage us to bring along our color pencils to color the story as we go along. Prizes might be offered for the best art work!

The course will begin Sunday, May 18 in Remembrance Hall at 9:00 a.m. Fair Trade coffee from the Commonground Cafe will be perking from 8:45 a.m. Please register with Judy.

Come learn how to begin living into our mission statement K = X + 3P.

Welcome to Community United Methodist Church. We are a small but vibrant church located in the beautiful and unique town of Leavenworth, Washington State's "Bavarian Village" (www.leavenworth.org). Our town hosts a unique series of festivals, such as Maifest, Wenatchee River Salmon Festival and Autumn Leaf Festival, which our church links with in a unique series of Christian worship services that help us in our mission of "Growing God's Kingdom by 'making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world'."
